Breast Lift

Excessive sagging of the breasts impairs the comfort and health of the patient. The discomforts include muscle strains in the back and neck caused by the breasts, positional changes, headache, shoulder pain, collapse of the shoulder because of bra straps, chronic chest pain, problems with personal hygiene, not being able to participate in sports activities, deterioration of clothing comfort, restriction in social life. Breast tissues stretch due to births, lactation, excessive weight gain and loss, and gravity etc., resulting in sagging. When correcting such deformities, the volume of the breast tissue and the sagging of the nipple downwards are important.

Depending on the technique applied, the breastfeeding functions and nipple sensitivity of the patients are also affected to varying degrees. The main approach in these surgeries is to leave the least surgical scarring in the breasts, to achieve the maximum shape formation and preserve breast functions and sensitivity. Therefore, preoperative breast measurements should be made very well and surgery drawings should be planned very well. This stage is as important as surgery itself for the surgical result to be achieved. The surgical procedure takes approximately 2.5-3.5 hours, and the excess breast and skin tissues of the patient are removed and the breast is reshaped.

If the Nipples are not Pointing Much Down

If nipples are not pointing down much and there is little sagging accompanied by lack of volume, an implant to be placed from under the areola will provide fullness to the breast and the breast will be lifted from around the areola with hardly noticeable scarring.

If the nipples are low hanging, there will be a scar around the areola, as well as a fine scar extending down to the inframammary fold, which will fade over time (8-12 months) (Depending on the reaction of the body, the scars can sometimes turn into noticeable and persistent scars). If the breast tissue volume is sufficient and the sagging is due to looseness in the skin and connective tissue only, implants will not be required.

There are Three Types of Scarring Resulting from the Surgery

  • Periareolar technique: limited scarring around the areola.
  • Vertical technique: A fine scar around the areola and a fine scar extending down to the inframammary fold.
  • Inferior-Central Techniques: There may be a scar around the areola, as well as a scar extending down to the inframammary fold, which may also involve a part of the inframammary fold. All these scars will fade over time (8-12 months), depending on your wound healing, and will become less noticeable (Depending on the reaction of the body, the scars can sometimes turn into noticeable and persistent scars).

Surgery

The surgical procedure for sagging takes approximately 2-2.5 hours. The patient will have dressing changes and controls every 3-4 days for two weeks. The patient can return to work and daily life after the first week. Strenuous exercises should be avoided for 4-6 weeks, and a special type of bra should be used for the recommended period.
